Hotter Than a Sidewalk at Falls Creek

Ok, some of you dont get that, but it’s just a little Oklahoma humor. I used to think that Falls Creek was the hottest place on earth, but now I know better. The hottest place is the journey across the 15 minute walk from the water taxi to our flat. Where we live there are new roads, a lot of concrete and not very many trees and hot is an understatement. We do not let our children go outside until after 4:30pm. We then coat them with factor 50 sunscreen. So far so good, no one has been sun burn. I remember last summer sitting at Falls Creek on our “saving seat duty” thinking, “why cant the wind just blow a little?” Angie reminded me of this as we sat on the water taxi with about a 70 or 80 others for about 30 minutes. There was no breeze, just sweat. Should you apologize when your sweat drips off of you and onto the person sitting next to you? How come the locals dont seem to be sweating as much as me?Braden and I went snorkeling today. Kyndal was with us, floating along in her little floaty thing. I made her hang on to my shorts and off we went. Angie stayed at home and did something. I am sure it was sweeping the sand for the eighth time today. The place we went snorkeling was not all that good. The water was only about 3 feet deep and the sand kept disturbing our view. It was also filled with a lot of broken coral, so every time Braden would stop to stand up and take a look around, his feet would get beat up. He said he didnt like it and would never do it again…. I bet he will. What else is there to do? I did show him some small fish and it was pretty cool, but I will show him a better place and I know he will love it.After we came in (and tracked sand back on Angie’s clean floor) we all took showers to wash off the sand and the salt. When Braden got out, he sat in our main room and said, “I’m freezing.” He was laying up on the couch and shivering. I went and felt of him and his burning up with fever. We gave him some medicine and will have to see how it goes. We also noticed he had about 30 mosquito bites on his legs (I only have one or two and the girls do not have any) and a rash on his stomach. We will watch him closely and see how it goes.
