In the groove

It seems like we are getting into the groove. I dont want to sound like we have it all figured out, because today I kind of messed up and didnt know I was supposed to pay the water taxi and an extra amount for the goods I bought and transported with me to my island. I thought if you could carry it, you could take it. Well, aparently they wanted a little extra cash. Dont worry we got it all corrected when we arrived on our island. I cant seem to get the cash thing together like I want. I'm pretty particular about how my money is arranged in my wallet (anyone surprised?) and the money kind of looks the same on both sides, but not really. Anyway, I guess I will figure it out soon enough. It seems like our flat is not well grounded. Maybe it is the entire electrical system they've got going on over here? Last night while typing on my computer, it would shock me. Today while connecting some cords to the portable DVD player, it too would shock me. I remembered that when I was younger, I used to use my dad's drill press and if I was barefoot on the concrete, it would shock me… it was the same kind of shock. I decided to break the rule of having shoes on in the house and see if that would help. Sure enough no more shocking while wearing rubber soles. Any electrical engineers with better ideas, please leave a comment. We spent most of the day on the main island. This is where we have to go to send and recieve email, post the blog and buy goods. We bought a washer/dryer combo, a two burner gas stove top, an ironing board, and a lot of little things to make life in the flat a little more comfortable. By the way I was wrong. I told everyone we were going to be living in a 600 sq ft apartment… its 660 sq ft. We rearanged our furniture a little bit today and when we moved our tiny little refrigerator to its new location, we forgot to turn on the the electrical outlet. Good thing we didnt really have anything in it yet.I had great meeting yesterday with getting our business setup, but I had an even better meeting today. It looks as if we will be well on our way, and possibly even be setup in three days. I'm not getting my hopes up as three days could really mean three weeks on this side of the planet. The representative that I talked to today said he would like to set up a meeting with me and the head of the department. I told him that I would love to meet him and would look forward to it. I inquired about getting extensions on our visas and my new friend told me that the process was easy and required a local sponsor. Tonight while we were playing on the beach, Angie met a family that was very eager to talk and very friendly. The beach area in front of our flat is filled with coral, so we have to go down the beach about 200 yards to get the good sand. While Braden and I were swimming, a man waved at us. I swam over to meet him and it turns out he is lawyer for the government. I told him about my business and he said he would help me if I needed it. He offered to be my local sponsor for my visa extension. He said that once my business was official that we could transfer the visas into my business. WOW, this was too good to be true. I find out what I needed for my visas earlier today, and then found myself swimming next to the person I needed later in the eveining. What are the chances? 100% as my friend Walker always says. Thank you for keeping up with our lives. I know I am writing more than you probably want or have time to read. It is here if you want it, but mostly for my journal. I love getting your comments. If you choose to leave a comment, the blog is set to email me your comment, and then I have the ability to post or reject your comment. We do this to keep the crazies from posting not so nice things to our blog and to make sure our blog is something everyone can read.
